The short answer

SCOOBER publishes 1,400 MKD for a small-breed dog and 1,600 MKD for a large-breed dog for 24 hours from handover, including an overnight stay at a sitter’s home. That is a specific home-boarding example, not a hotel average. Kajak also advertises PetCare Hotel in Ilinden at 1,000-2,000 MKD per day. Ask for a total quote with exact times and all extras.

Checked on 11 October 2026. Examples come from three local providers’ pages and Kajak’s advertised offer for PetCare Hotel in Ilinden. They are not a market average. Price expiry dates are not stated; confirm availability, the current price and the terms before booking.

Which local prices can you compare?

A number without a duration cannot tell you what your time away will cost. This table keeps the published description: a package is not relabelled as a nightly rate, and daytime care is not treated as overnight boarding.

Day, night or 24 hours: why does the unit matter?

Imagine dropping your dog off on Friday at 18:00 and collecting them on Sunday at 18:00. That means two nights, 48 hours and a stay touching three calendar days. Without an agreed billing unit, multiplying the headline rate by “two days” could be wrong. This is a billing example, not a particular hotel’s policy.

Ask the provider to state how many chargeable units apply to your actual stay. If you return later, establish the latest collection time covered by the quote and when another charge starts. For daycare, check that the opening hours fit both your departure and return.

SCOOBER explicitly defines its overnight service as 24 hours from handover at the sitter’s home. That helps with the calculation, but still ask what happens if collection runs late and which size category applies to your dog.

  • Confirm whether the rate is per dog, per night, per calendar day or for a fixed number of hours.
  • Send dates and times for both ends of the stay, not just “Friday to Sunday”.
  • Check whether overnight accommodation and daytime care are one service or separate items.

Are food, walks and photo updates included?

Dom Pansion lists three professional photos in its packages. Its homepage asks owners to bring food, litter and bowls; confirm which items apply to your dog. Photos being included does not mean food is included.

In the written quote, separate the care your dog receives from the things you provide. Ask how many walks or outdoor breaks are planned, whether they are individual and whether a particular routine needs a separate agreement. Do not assume that “boarding” means the same daily schedule everywhere.

For food you supply, work out the quantity using your dog’s established feeding routine. Add its actual purchase cost to the trip budget only if you are making a new purchase, so you do not count the same spending twice.

For sitter-home stays, SCOOBER lists meals served to the pet’s schedule, walks following their routine and photo/video updates. Serving a meal does not establish that buying the food is included: confirm who supplies it. Home collection, return and a veterinary visit if needed are listed as paid options without published amounts.

How do you calculate the full budget?

Use: total = confirmed rate × chargeable units + separately agreed extras + transport + necessary purchases. Subtract a discount only when the provider has confirmed it.

Daycare example: five separate visits at Skopje Paws’ published 700 MKD give 5 × 700 = 3,500 MKD. This assumes the standard rate applies to all five visits, without transport, food or an agreed package. It is not a budget for five overnight stays.

Example for seven complete 24-hour periods with SCOOBER: 7 × 1,400 = 9,800 MKD for a small breed, or 7 × 1,600 = 11,200 MKD for a large breed. This applies the published standard rate without assuming a discount, transport or other extras. Confirm that the rate applies to your dates and that drop-off and pickup fit within the seven periods.

Which possible extras should you ask about?

The points below are questions for your quote, not claims that every Skopje hotel charges them. Get the answer in writing, even when it is simply “included”.

For transport, supply both addresses and the times. “Transport available” does not tell you whether a price covers one journey, collection and return, waiting or an address change. If you drive your dog yourself, consider your own travel costs and time when comparing locations.

For PetCare Hotel in Ilinden, Kajak advertises a 200 MKD daily supplement for holidays and extended weekends, plus Skopje transport at 600-800 MKD. Transport is a separate cost; whether the amount covers one direction or collection and return is unclear. Confirm your dates and addresses.

  • Does a different rate apply on your holiday dates?
  • Is there a charge for early drop-off, late pickup or extending the stay?
  • Does a special feeding routine or following an existing prescribed medication schedule require an extra service and fee?
  • Are a trial visit, a bath before collection or individual care separate items?
  • Who approves and pays for unexpected costs if the owner cannot be reached?

Deposits, cancellations and date changes

Before paying, ask for the total price, the deposit and the balance. A deposit credited towards the total is not an extra cost: if the agreed total is 7,000 MKD and you pay a 2,000 MKD deposit, 5,000 MKD remains. This is an arithmetic example, not a term offered by the named providers.

Check the cancellation deadline, whether the deposit is refundable, whether it can move to new dates and what happens if you collect your dog early. The reviewed pages did not provide sufficiently clear terms for us to attribute a specific cancellation policy.

Dom Pansion recommends booking at least five days ahead, particularly before weekends and holidays. That is this provider’s recommendation, not a guarantee of space or a rule applying to every hotel.

Send the same request to several hotels

For comparable quotes, send identical details to two or three places. Then compare the complete price, the hours and the care you need. The lowest published number is not necessarily the lowest bill for your schedule.

“I need boarding for one dog, [age], [weight], from [date and time] to [date and time]. I will bring [food/bowls]. We need [usual routine]. Do you have space? Please send the total price, chargeable days or nights, inclusions, late-pickup terms, deposit and cancellation conditions.”

Your quick checklist

  • Exact drop-off and pickup dates and times.
  • Confirmed billing unit and total quote.
  • What is included and what you need to bring.
  • Separate transport price and scope, if needed.
  • Written deposit, cancellation and extension terms.

Frequently asked questions

How much is one night of dog boarding in Skopje?

SCOOBER publishes 1,400 MKD for a small breed and 1,600 MKD for a large breed for 24 hours from handover, including an overnight stay at a sitter’s home. This is not an average hotel price. For a hotel, request a separate quote with the exact number of chargeable days or nights.

Sources: [5]
Is dog daycare the same as overnight boarding?

No. Daycare covers agreed daytime hours. If you are travelling and your dog needs to sleep there, ask for explicit confirmation of overnight accommodation and the billing method.

Does dog size affect the price?

It does with some providers: Dom Pansion lists separate small, medium and large dog packages. Ask which band your dog falls into, because the price page does not define weight thresholds.

Sources: [1]
Is there a discount for seven days or more?

Do not assume a discount. Ask for a final quote for the whole stay and check whether a package covers daytime visits or overnight boarding. A discount is useful only if it covers the dates and services you actually need.

Can I collect my dog late without an extra charge?

Agree this with your chosen hotel. Ask for the collection deadline and the cost of extra hours or another billing unit. We did not find one published policy applying to every provider mentioned here.
